The Kartavya Movement is a non-profit organisation driven by the belief that meaningful change begins with individual action. We bring people together to address the urgent challenges facing our communities and environment.

Our work spans environmental sustainability, community development, education, civic engagement, and public health. We partner with local groups and volunteers to create programmes that are inclusive, culturally sensitive, and sustainable.

Founded on the principle of karma — that what we give returns to us — we are committed to fostering a culture of responsibility, empathy, and proactive involvement. Every initiative we undertake is designed to leave a lasting, positive impact.

  1. Founding

    The Movement Begins

    Founded by a small group of volunteers in Mumbai, The Kartavya Movement held its first community clean-up drive, drawing 40 participants from three neighbourhoods.

    Roots Grow Deeper

    Despite global challenges, we pivoted to digital awareness campaigns and doorstep health kits, reaching over 500 families across Mumbai's underserved areas.

    Education Takes Root

    Launched the Youth Leadership Camp and partnered with 8 local schools to deliver civic education workshops, empowering over 1,200 students with knowledge and agency.

    Green Spaces Initiative

    Planted 3,500 trees across 14 urban sites and launched the Clean Villages Programme in partnership with 5 Panchayats, improving sanitation for over 8,000 residents.

    Scaling the Impact

    Expanded operations to 3 new cities, ran the Inclusive Markets Drive supporting 200 marginalised entrepreneurs, and launched the Equality Now campaign across social media.
